Understanding the Need for Surgery

We know that deciding on surgery for your pet can be difficult, and our team is committed to making the process as comfortable and stress-free as possible. Before any procedure, we take the time to explain why surgery is recommended, what the procedure involves, and how to care for your pet afterward. Our goal is to ensure you feel confident and informed every step of the way.
All surgical procedures are performed at our Lime Kiln Road facility in Hopewell Junction. To help minimize stress and support healing, routine general practice surgeries can be scheduled with the veterinarian your pet already knows. These procedures include:
  • Spays
  • Neuters
  • Abscess treatment
  • Mass removals
  • And more

For more advanced procedures, your pet may be referred to our Surgery Department at the same Hopewell Junction facility. Our Chief of Surgery, Dr. Paul McNamara, is a board-certified veterinary surgeon and a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons—one of only about 400 specialists worldwide.

Your pet’s safety, comfort, and wellbeing are always our top priorities.

Pain Management

At our Hopewell Junction facility, every surgical procedure is performed using the safest, most up-to-date anesthetics available. Our experienced surgeons and veterinary surgical technicians rely on advanced monitoring equipment to detect any changes in your pet’s vital signs before they become serious concerns. We treat every surgery as a major procedure, making effective pain management an essential part of our approach.

Our veterinarians stay current with the latest advancements in anesthesia and surgical care through ongoing continuing education, ensuring your pet benefits from the highest standard of medical expertise.

After surgery, we support your pet’s recovery with comprehensive pain control, attentive nursing care from our trained team, specialized diets when needed, and—most importantly—gentle, individualized attention to keep your pet comfortable and at ease throughout the healing process.
