VETERINARY TECHNICIANS

A Veterinary Technician is a licensed professional that functions much like a Registered Nurse in human medicine. They must complete a rigorous 2-4 year program, which studies everything from anatomy and physiology to pharmaceuticals and laboratory practices. After completing an externship program in a high quality veterinary hospital they must pass an intense NY State Board examination to become licensed. Many of our technicians have gone on for further training in their areas of special interest such as rehabilitation, behavior and training, nutrition, ultrasonography, and dentistry. Our in-hospital educational seminars also keep them up to date on the latest developments in veterinary medicine.

Our technicians are a vital part of our hospital team at Hudson Highlands. In addition to patient handling, they are directly responsible for in-hospital patient care, administration and monitoring of anesthesia, client education and running our laboratory, pharmaceutical, radiology and rehabilitation departments.

We are proud and grateful for all 10 of our Hospital’s technicians and their level of expertise and experience. Many of them have over 10 years of employment at Hudson Highlands, and as a group they have given us well over 110 years of dedicated service!!!
